I just hung a bunch of paintings and prints at August First so if you're in the Queen City this month go check 'em out. Also, if you stumble across Split Rail Magazine (I'm told they'll be all over Vermont) pick one up and read four pages of me talking about myself (there's other artists to read about too). While you're doing that, I'll be doing all sorts of amazing things! (Painting my toe nails and patiently awaiting Project Runway Season 9)
These little paintings (ranging in size from 12"x12" to 6"x6") are my submission to the second annual Small Works show at The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery. It opens this Friday (Dec. 3rd) and runs through Jan 29th. Yep, a two month show!
If you do happen to check out the show you may notice that in person my artwork isn't blurry like my photo here suggests. This is because I use a very special photography technique where I spin around in a circle whilst chugging a bottle of Boones Farm (Wild Island flavor) right before every shot. I do it this way because taking a crisp clear picture is soooo pedestrian. I am an artist and I must express my creativity at all times or I will just wither away and die.
So if you want to see what these little buggers really look like you'll just have to go to the show.
Have you ever seen art on a wall and wondered just how in the feck it got there? If you guessed witchcraft, ghosts, or some other supernatural force you would be right... most of the time. However, in the case of the currant show at Red Square it was a short sweaty lady scurrying around with a hammer. Don't believe me? My lovely assistant Jennifer took the pictures to prove it.
Before my beloved octopus was a painting, it was an envelope. It was my submission to the Mail Me Art project. A project I decided to take part in because not only did it remind me of all the mail art I did as a kid but there was also promise of an eventual gallery show and possible book. Well, that "eventual" show opens this week. More specifically, Friday. I won't be attending because I have way cooler things to do. No. This is a lie. I can't even think of anything cooler than going to check out about 700 different pieces of "mail" art from all around the world, but I don't live in London. Not even close. So I'll probably just stay home and look at funny pictures of cats on the internet.
The show runs July 30th - August 5th (it's a quickie!) at The Red Gate Gallery in London.
This past Saturday I hung a bunch of art up on the wall of August First, a super tasty bakery/cafe in Burlington VT.
The place was packed for a live band when I showed up but nobody seemed to mind me being in their way. Even when I hauled out the ladder and dangled paintings over their heads.
